I was registered previously but due to messing up some e-mail accounts I have re-registered. My interests lie in mining communities but come across stuff relevant to war memorials when searching in newspapers in the post-war years.
Just recently the British Library Newspaper archive have been uploading the Courier from 1916-1920. I've landed up with some spares while looking for mining accidents so will upload these. I can really recommend as a source for all Tayside, Fife and also some Stirling areas.
If I put anything in the wrong place - please feel free to move as I'm not used to your layout

Hi Lindsay, welcome back!
I am quite keen on newspaper reports also, i use the free google scans of the glasgow herald for info. They can be just what you need to confirm a name on a memorial that the info on the CWGC or SNWM entry doesn't have.
I look forward to your contributions.
Derek. |

I couldn't see anything but newspapers are always a bit hit and miss. I can't really offer to do look ups, but would be open to the occasional PM |

Hi
I recently photographed the mining memorial in Kirkconnel. Off topic for this forum but I will happily send the photos on if they are of interest? If so, just PM me with your email.

I photographed the memorial on a horrible rainy day several years back. Just checked and the one half decent, non rain smeared longshot photo seems to have been lost from the site during an upgrade. I'll check my own files first, but if not, I will pm you as very happy to accept a replacement! |
