Prince Charles , Duke of Rothesay was at CLOCHAN near Fochabers in Moray this week ( October 2012) to unveil the first permanent memorial to the WOMENS LAND ARMY .
Erected by the Land Army Memorial Scotland Charitable Trust on Crown Estates land and designed by Yorkshire artist Peter Naylor the memorial marks the nation's gratitude to over 100,000 women who volunteered for farm work during WW2
The desire to see a memorial came from former NFU Scotland president, Jim McLaren, who set up a committee to oversee the necessary fundraising . Mr McLaren's mother Mrs Janie McLaren , served in th Women's land army and met his father on the farm where she worked.
The Memorial depicts a Group of young land girls siting on a farmgate
