DUNFERMLINE SOLDIERS KILLED.
Private Andrew Williamson, Royal Engineers, whose father is Mr Alexander Williamson, retired colliery manager, 126 Appin Crescent, Dunfermline, has been killed in France.
An elder brother. Lance-Corporal James Williamson, also of the Royal Engineers, conveys the sad tidings in a letter to his father. Private Williamson was killed instantaneously while leaving the "sap" with a comrade, who was also killed.
The brothers enlisted together in November, 1915, and after a fortnight's training were sent with a draft to the front. Before enlisting the deceased was employed as a miner at the Aitken Pit, Kelty. He leaves a widow and five children, residing at Manse Road, Kelty.
Another soldier to lay down his life, Private James Wood, 1st. Cameron Highlanders, whose parents reside at Downieville Crescent, Dunfermline. He was officially reported missing on 11th November, 1914, but a communication has now been received to the effect that he must be presumed to have been killed.
Private Wood was a reservist, and prior to the war was engaged at Rosyth Naval Base. He was wounded on 14th September, but soon recovered.
Dundee Courier 15 January 1916

Note I can find James Wood on this memorial but Andrew Williamson does not appear on either Dunfermline or Kelty

Private Archibald Ritchie, Seaforth Highlanders, who was missing since September, 1915, has been officially reported killed in action. Prior to joining the army he was employed as a gardener at Pittencrieff Gardens, Dunfermline.
Corporal Joseph Gillies, Black Watch, son of Mr David Gillies, St Leonard's Place, Dunfermline, has died of wounds. Previous to the war he was a miner.
Private Jack Niven, son of John Niven, Craigmoss, Appin Crescent, Dunfermline, has been killed in action. He was 24 years of age, and was formerly employed as a grocer.
Dundee Courier 17 June 1916

DUNFERMLINE H.L.I. PRIVATE KILLED.
Private James Smart, of the Highland Light Infantry, has been killed in action.

He was 18 years of age, and the son of Joseph Smart, miner, Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline. Private Smart was killed on 17th September, and was buried on 8th October, and it is presumed that during this period his body had lain on the battlefield.

Deceased joined the H.L.I. two ago. He was expected home on a month's furlough, but on the outbreak of the war his regiment was despatched to the Continent.
