13 stones with 18 names, some worn. The top three say 1914 - They Died That We Might Live - 1918. The names that are legible are :

This memorial is on the UKNIWM under UKNIM Ref no. 5977

The Second World War names are in the church behind the cross. UKNIM Ref no. 2082

From an old postcard I have been able to decipher more of the names on this archway. In the same order as given by Fionabee:

    Grave Reference: D. 13.
    Cemetery: BERLES POSITION MILITARY CEMETERY
    Additional Information: Son of John Boyd (Crown Forester), and Christina D. Boyd, of Ford, Argyll.


Ford can be found at the south end of Loch Awe, in Kilmartin parish.

There is an 1885 birth certificate for James Menzies McLachlan in Kilmartin parish. He is a bank accountant in Oban in the 1911 census.

That is the right man from CWGC. The Medal Index Card for James Menzies MacLachlan shows he was formerly of the 15th (Service) Battalion Highland Light Infantry. His NoK was listed as his mother at Stroneskar, Ford.
