According to William Stanley, Land and Fleet Services, South Lanarkshire Council, the Cambuslang memorial did have plaques which were inscribed with the names of the fallen. The plaques were either vandalised, removed for refurbishment and lost or, they were stolen. This happened sometime in the early nineties. Thankfully details of the roll of honour were copied from the original plaques and are listed below. Many thanks to William Stanley for providing the information.

His death was registered in Windsor and the Base Camp of the Canadian Forestry Corps was in the Great Park but it's a bit odd that he's listed as 27th Bn. CIF
At enlistment he gave his DoB as 1882, but GRoS has 1879 which I think explains why some records have him as age 36.

Private McGinn who was 20 years of age, and had been two years in the Army. "Yesterday was received in a letter from Private Maxwell, 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders, that Lance-Corporal Hugh Gourlay, who resided with his parents at 271 Hamilton Way, Halfway, Cambuslang, had been killed in France. Lance-Corporal Gourlay was 19 years of age, and was employed as a crane-driver in the works of the Steel Company of Scotland at Hallside, Cambuslang. He joined the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders on the outbreak of the war, and had been seven weeks in France. He was exceptionally well known in the district, and playing two seasons ago for Cambuslang Rangers, but last season was in the ranks of the Dechmont Heart F.C."

"Yesterday, Mrs Hugh Scott, a widow who resides at 20 Church Street, Cambuslang, was informed that her son, Private Robert Scott, 9th Battalion H.L.I. (Glasgow Highlanders) had been wounded in the head by shrapnel shell when in the trenches at La Bassee, and is now lying in the Stationary Hospital Ward, Scottish Section, Rouen. Private Scott is 22 years of age, and was a clerk employed in messrs Sandeman and Co's bonded stores, Miller Street, Glasgow. He joined the Army on the outbreak of the war and was sent to the front in December.

Although Private Scott died later in the war the article gives a greater background to him. He'd have been approximately 23 when he died."

"Yesterday afternoon Mrs Blyth, who resides at 35 Colebrooke Street, Cambuslang, received intimation that her husband, Private David Blyth, of the 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders, had died of wounds in Bolougne Hospital. Private Blyth joined the Army in September, and was at the front in January. Private Blyth was a miner, and employed in the Gateside Colliery, of the Flemington Coal Company (Limited) at Cambuslang. He was 31 years of age, and leaves a widow of and three of a family."
