Penicuik Co-operative Association Ltd Great War memorial.

A brass plaque listing the names of 12 men who had an association with the Penicuik Co-operative Association and who died in the Great War.

The plaque was thankfully salvaged before it was scrapped a few years back and now resides safely in a private residence in the Borders.

Well done for whoever saved it and well done Derek for tracking it down, photographing and posting it for posterity.

I could not find it on UKNIWM so presume it is unlisted.

Spoons,

The phrase "Grateful remembrance" obviously only lasted one generation before the plaque was torn down and only saved from the smelter by a faithful guardian.

How many have been lost in other parts of Scotland? Thank goodness for this Border's collector.
