Should this memorial be in Aberdeenshire? Gourdon is in Angus isn't it, and used to be in Forfarshire?
Regards

I posted this last night because I'd found Gourdon listed as Forfarshire in Soldiers Died in the Great War.
When checking the internet it showed as Angus. Confusingly it sems to be linked to Montrose for postcodes so that is why it shows up as Angus on some webpages. It must be right on the boundary between Aberdeenshire / Old Kincardineshire and Angus.
It's in the right part of the forum then.

You have it in the right section, it along with Inverbervie (Bervie), Johnshaven and St Cyrus are all actually in Aberdeenshire/Grampian Region. It is in Kincardineshire, but the post code is DD10, and linked to Dundee!!! But it comes under Aberdeen/Stonehaven for any council business. Its phone numbers are in the Dundee directory but not in the Aberdeen one!!!!! The border between Tayside (Angus) and Aberdeenshire/Grampian (Kincardineshire) is actually just at the North side of the South Esk river. The postal address for Gourdon is Gourdon, By Montrose, Angus DD10..... , but Inverbervie is Kincardineshire. I think it is a throw back to all the regionalisation of councils in the 70's or whenever it was! Very confusing! |

Some newer photos.
The army and sea based services are on seperate sides for WW1 casualties. The WW2 entries however are all on the same side.
