The RoH entry for CUV should read Guy.

Sergeant (Navigator) Robert Kerr Guy perished when Halifax DT738 of 51 Squadron on a bombing raid on Essen crashed in the target area. Cause of the loss has not been established.

"Three other Beith soldiers have lost their lives in the service of their country. Private George McCard, of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, was killed on February 20 in France. He was a son of Mr Richard McCard, carver, Beith, and was with his regiment in India when war broke out."

"Three other Beith soldiers have lost their lives in the service of their country.... Private Wm. Henderson, of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, i reported by the War Office as having died of pneumonia in the reserve hospital at Wittenberg, Germany. He was a son of Mr David Henderson, lately a porter as Beith Laigh Station, now at Stevenston."

John G. Brodie (Middle initial not a C as in transcription, although it's very hard to tell the difference on this memorial)

(Glasgow Herald 10th March 1915)
"Three other Beith soldiers have lost their lives in the service of their country.... Private John Gillies Bordie, of the Glasgow Highlanders, who died of wound sin Bethune Hospital, France, was a son of Mr James Brodie, currier, formerly of Beith, now residing in Partick. The deceasd volunteered when war was declared. As a youth he was a clerk at Beith Joint Line Station."

As far as I can tell from the Census records, Richard and George McCard were the only sons of Richard and Mary Ann McCard.

I wonder which William Henderson is the one commemorated here. I note there is also a William Henderson commemorated at Stevenston.
