Private Lang was one of three Queen's Own Highlanders killed in a friendly fire incident during the First Gulf War in 1991.

I've just noticed that Pte John Lang QOH was previously commemorated on this memorial. The addition of Flt Lt Allan Squires to the memorial resulted in a new plaque with both those individuals names. This was, obviously, a more appropriate measure than adding another plaque.

Well I've finally finished my book on Nairn War Memorial with a gazetteer of the c312 names from the memorial for 1914-18 to include biblio info, place of burial, newspaper entries, award of medals, service records. I have concentrated on those from Nairn itself but included those from the county not recorded on their individual parish memorials.
Copies available through the Nairn Bookshop price £14.99.
I have nearly finished those for 39-45 and hope to have it published before the end of the year. Could not have put both together - would have been over 500 pages which would put a high cost on it.

"Mrs Noble, 49 Harbour Street, Nairn, was notified yesterday by the War Office that her son, Private Donald Noble, of the 2nd Seaforths, had been killed in action on February 21. Private Noble was 17 years of age, and joined the Seaforths a year ago. He lately went out to France, and was only three days in the trenches when killed. Mrs Noble has two other sons serving in the Army."
Donald Noble was born on the 16th of June 1897, therefore he was 17 when he was killed.
