"Mrs Boyd, of 19 Bridgend, Chryston, has received official word that her son, Private John Boyd (6707), of the 1st Scots Guards, has been missing since November 11. He was a reservist, and when war broke out was called up and rejoined his old regiment, being sent to France in early August. Previous to enlisting he was employed as a miner in Auchengeich Colliery, Chryston."
