I was unsure about posting this one. Although a war hero in his day MacDonald actually commited suicide in 1903 after serious allegations against him were published in American newspapers.

I decided to post it because of the bronze bust on the memorial which is quite impressive. I take it the carvings behind the bust of the highland bonnet and regimental colour are from his old regiment the 92nd Highlanders.

There is also a tower commemorating him in his birthplace of Dingwall.
