HMS Goodall (Lt.Cdr. James Vaudalle Fulton, RNVR) was torpedoed and on 29 April 1945 in position 69º25'N, 33º38'E by U-286.
Just an hour before Goodall was was sunk she was missed with a gnat torpedo fired by U-968.
Hit by U-boat - Sunk on 29 Apr 1945 by U-286 (Dietrich).

T/o Warboys borrowed by 156 Squadron and crashed 1430 at Old Weston about 1 mile East of Molesworth airfield in Northamptonshire. All are buried in cemeteries across the British Isles. F/O Pile and F/L Robertson had served previously with 166 Squadron and 97 Squadron respectively, with their DFM’s having been gazetted on 19 September 1944 and 11 June 1943.

This NCO has completed an operational tour as a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner. His targets have included many of the most heavily defended German towns, Italian and other objectives. He also took part in daylight attacks against Danzig and Le Creusot. Flight Sergeant Robertson’s skill and courage largely contributed to the success of his crew.
I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Flight Sergeant Robertson for the immediate award of the Distinguished Flying Medal.

Sunk by German aircraft off Dunkirk on 1 June 1940.
The wreck lies in 15 meters of water in position 51.04.54N, 02.27.30E.

Tug ST ABBS was lost later on the 1st June 1940 with the survivors still on board and one hundred navy and army personnel were lost in the tug.
From the GWF:-
“Maj Rupert Colvin of the Grenadier Guards thought he had found salvation aboard the tug St Abbs – until the Luftwaffe struck.
“Everyone made a rush for the side,” he recalled. “I took a deep breath, said a short prayer and thought this was the one end I least desired.”
For many of the soldiers packed aboard St Abbs, this was the second time that day they had been shipwrecked. “Men were dying every moment from cramp and their cries were pathetic,” remembered the major, who survived by clinging to another wrecked steamer.”
