The case below is one of a number I have in the system at present. Being a Navy man it may be of interest to others.

Details of 226782 AB. Masson McLennan, HMS Pembroke of Forglen, Aberdeenshire have been put forward as a post discharge death non comm to MOD.
This man advised he was born at Nairn on 8th March 1888 when he signed on for 12 years in the Royal Navy on 8th March 1906 ( Chatham ) giving his occupation as a forester's assistant. The family were at Forglen in 1901 where Masson is recorded born at Auldearn.
He served at various establishments until 3rd April 1918 when he was invalided out from HMS Pemboke, Chatham due to " Lymphedema ".

He died of this same cause aged 32 at South Lodge, Forglen on 24th June 1920 son of John McLennan, Forester ( retired) and
Jessie McLennan ms Nicol. The family were at Forglen in 1901.

I am very hopeful that, in due course, he will be accepted as Lymphedema can occur consequent to an injury.
The Navy seem to require that the post-discharge cause of death had to be caused by service rather than simply
an illness contracted whilst in service. Time ( possibly years) will tell.

I am aware he is buried at Forglen.

Number 5665 on my database has McLennan Masson Torpedoman Royal Navy Died Home 24-Jun-20 The War Book of Turriff & 12 Miles Round : Page 346. Listed under Forglen details.
I have had to wait a long time to get more info on this man. As you can see I've left in the database number and as I'm now at 12386 you can tell I did know something of Masson and thanks for filling in some blanks.

A good result, well done Jim.

It was a long wait right enough.
