James's name is still there I took a photo of it and have also visited his grave. Along with him in Sanctuary Wood is David Gillan Guyan he too has two mentions as his name is on the panels at Tyne Cot 132 to 135.
I know his name is still there too. (My husband's grandfathers name William Dallas appears on panel 131 and he was the next door neighbour of David Gillan Guyan. Still neighbours.)
The reason for the names appearing twice is that the bodies were found when the ground was being rechecked for bodies.

I note that this Strachan War Memorial has in the recent years moved from its kirk location in the village of Strachan to across the road onto spare ground.

I had to contact the Aberdeenshire council last year (2008) when I visited this war memorial to find works trucks parked on the War Memorial site right up to the War Memorial . The council official at Banchory was to have a site visit and liase with the Royal British Legion Scotland to arrange some railing to stop the parking of vehicles on the War Memorial site .

With the help from Jim ( @ Kinnethmont ) I wrote to Leslie Allan, Aberdeenshire Council , Area Manager , (Marr) at Alford regarding my wife and I visiting Strachan on 29 May this year to find that lorries and other vehicles were parked on the newish war memorial area in Strachan .

Today I have received a letter from Leslie Allan and he reports that he has contacted Aberdeenshire Council's Landscape Services ( Sandy Grant ) who will cone off the area round the Strachan War Memorial and will erect a notice to discourage parking as a temporary solution . They are investigating a more permanent solution which they will implement in due course .

When the permanent solution is in place it is hoped that this will resolve the current difficulty , Mr Allan says in his letter dated 9th June .
.....

My wife and I and many others who care about our War Memorials do not think that the War Memorial area should be used as a lorry /truck park and shows little respect for a War Memorial .

We will keep an eye on it but maybe people who live closer to Strachan too can keep an eye on that Strachan War Memorial area but sadly the war memorial is just stuck on spare ground which looks to have been cleared and several tubs with plants laid beside the memorial.

This memorial has been moved across the road as the church now appears to be in private hands and undergoing conversion
