Hi
Initially we thought it was Blairgowrie Wellmeadow but its not.
The small girl is my Mum aged about 5-7 Id think in about 1950-1952.
She is standing with her big sister and their great auntie.
They lived in Blairgowrie but its somewhere else in Scotland but not too far from Blairgowrie maybe.
Does anyone know where and what exact war memorial it is?

Thanks

If this is Scotland I'd say it has to be one of the bigger towns or cities because of the height of the buildings in the background.

Perhaps that might mean this isn't actually a war memorial. It's impossible to work out what that plaque behind their heads is either.

It is frustrating that there isn't just a little clue from a shop name or sign. Is that a cinema or theatre in the background on the left? Maybe that's a clue. The buildings look like red sandstone so would that suggest west of Scotland.

Finally I would say that this memorial is in a park because it looks like a park background.

Maybe someone else can narrow down a possible location and then it may be easier to hunt on here.

There's something about the curve of the street and the park suggesting Ayr to me near the RSF Boer War statue. Isn't there a Burns statue in Ayr near there?

It is the Burns statue in Ayr. Thanks to good old Google Maps Street View:

D

Thanks for sharing this photo. I love the fact the girls are in their summer dresses and great auntie is in her coat and hat. It must have been a bit breezy in Ayr that day!

Cheers

No need to apologise. The size of it suggested a war memorial and they are certainly more numerous than memorials to individuals.
