Calton Parkhead Church, 122 Helenvale Street, Parkhead, Glasgow G31 4NA

OS Grid Ref: NS 624638

“The present church is a union of Calton Old (Newbank) Church, Parkhead West, Parkhead East, Parkhead and Dalmarnock Old. The origins of the church itself can be traced back to Glasgow Cathedral and the Calton area of Glasgow. The original church was in Tobago Street and known then as Calton Parish (Old) Church. Before moving to Tobago Street the church was a Chapel of Ease within Glasgow Cathedral.” Extract from Glesga Pals.

Many thanks to Jean Armstrong, Session Clerk, for allowing me access to the church.

Interesting. I was based in the church for twelve years and was never made aware of these unknown memorials. I will hazard a guess and say that they may well belong to one of the other churches, Dalmarnock, Newlands East or Parkhead East, which were combined with Calton Parkhead over the years. I am returning a set of medals that was given to me by one of the church elders for them to sell on e-bay so I will check it out for you.
