Hi John

I can confirm that the white marble Great War memorial is the original Queen's Park Baptist Church Memorial.

The Scottish Baptist Magazine began listing some of the Baptist casualties from January 1917 and it has the following entry that month relating to Queen's Park Baptist Church:

Scottish Baptist Magazine January 1917

Glasgow (Queen’s Park)
Private Harry Brown
Lance-Corporal James Davidson
Private Stanley Irons
Private Robert Leiper
Private David Miller
Private James S. Miller
Lance-Corporal Robert Stephen

For the last couple of year I've been compiling a Scottish Baptist Roll of Honour based on the entries in the magazine. Sadly not every Baptist Church submitted information on casualties associated with the churches, and even when they did, they didn't always send in updates. THe QP memorial has a few names on it that don't appear in the magazine. I've found a few other examples of this.

Queen's Park Baptist did send a few further updates though some of the initials were wrong:

June 1917
Lowe, M [should be H M]

September 1918
Bowie, William Robert
Brodie, William Eastdale

Novembe 1918
McGlashan, A

December 1918
Andrew, William Ross

March 1919
Cooper, C T [note the memorial wrongly has C J]

Regards
LIT

Great work LIT.
I'll be on the lookout for Baptist Church Memorials in this area.

Details split from the original topic this memorial was posted in, and the original thread has been renamed to reflect the church memorials contained in it.
