J Pearson

(Glasgow herald 26th May 1915)
"The death at the front of Private James Pearson, of the Watsonians, will appeal strongly to followers of theRugby game in Scotlandand far beyond. He was one of the brightest members of the Myreside team which volunteered in the early days of the war. Pearson was one of the celverest three-quarters who ever wore the Watsonians colours. Fast, resourceful and confident,he played in amny important matches for his club and for his country. He played for Scotland a dozen times, three each against England, France and Ireland, twice against Wales, and against the South Africans in 1913. It was not only at rugby he excelled, he was one of the best club cricketers in Scotland.
He had been through the thick of the recent fighting in Flanders with the 9th Royal Scots (Highlanders). He had crawled out of the trenches to get some water when he was hit and mortally wounded by a sniper.

1942: P. Munro

Patrick Munro is not on CWGC. If indeed a member of the Home Guard he would qualify, if he died on duty

According to Wikipedia Munro was "... a private in the Home Guard, died whilst taking part in an exercise at Westminster in 1942."
