A framed Roll of Honour for the Ancient Order of Foresters has appeared for sale on Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Anceint-Order-of-Foresters-Roll-of-Honour-Aberdeen_W0QQitemZ150370211474QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item2302c35692&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
So far it has no bids, but that might be due to the rather high initial asking price. It's quite clearly WAY out of my price range.
I've saved a copy of the image which unfortunately is too small to make out any names.
Do we have any more information on this? Where did it come from? Who is selling it? Do we have a record of it already? If so, do we have a list of the names saved?
Obviously we can't afford to buy this, but should we contact the seller to try and get some more detailed photographs? And lastly, do we know of any groups or societies we could contact in order to try and purchase and keep it for public display? |

What makes him think that a Roll of Honour should be valued at £1000?
Really quite sad. _________________

I can't see him getting anything like that for it, he has set the starting price way too high.
If he was that clever he would be able to spell ancient. _________________ Jim

The Foresters Friendly Society (the trading name of The Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly Society Limited)
http://www.forestersfriendlysociety.co.uk/live/aboutus/aboutus.php might be interested if they knew about it. |

How could an item such as this become the property of an individual? Usually you'd think something like this would be gifted to a museum if the society no longer wanted it? |

I have been sent detailed images of the names on this roll, which I will upload shortly to the forum.
No matter what the future fate of this roll, it will be documented here. |

Well done, great (partial) save.
It could well be that the Roll of Honour was thrown out in a clearout and rescued by someone and I guess that would make it his.
