SHELL SHATTERED FRANCE ENFOLDS YE TO HER BREAST,
AND CHANTS THE GREY NORTH SEA
YOUR REQUIEM DEEP
THE BURNING EASTERN SUN LOOKS DOWN ON YE.
THE SIGHING HEMLOCKS WHISPER O'ER YOUR SLEEP
THOUGHTS CROWD TOO QUICKLY NOW THE MIND GROWS DIM
WITH GLORY OF YOUR PASSING. THE DAWN WAKES
LIKE SHIMMERING RADIANCE OF AN ANGEL’S WINGS;
AS WHEN THE LAST TRIUMPHANT MORNING BREAKS.
AND YE ARISE IN SPLENDOUR
FROM YOUR SACRIFICE |
