Corporal Thomas Wear, Seaforth Highlanders is listed in "Hawick & The War" as being killed in the Great War.

The only information provided is that he was a son of Francis Wear, builder, Bradford.

He is not listed on the Hawick Roll of Honour.
There are no matches on SNWM.
Nor on CWGC.
Only 1 MIC listed to a Thomas Weir.

Any ideas?

I found this Thomas Weir on the Shilbottle ROH online

41420 Private Thomas Weir, 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, killed in action 8th October 1918 aged 19. Son of Andrew and Elizabeth Weir, of West Lodge, Newton-on-Moor, Felton, Morpeth, Northumberland. Buried Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy, Aisne France.

so that doesn't tie up at all.

There was also a Thomas Weir from Bathgate who died in 1916 following a coal mine accident.

I notice the Hawick ROH describes him as late of Hawick but with no date of death or place of burial so I wonder how the news came to add him. Something in a local paper somewhere perhaps?
