At the cessation of the Great War the Kirk Session and Congregation erected a memorial to those members of the congregation who had made the supreme sacrifice. It took the form of a three panel stained glass window erected in the west gable of the church, and a brass plaque with the names of the fallen erected in the south east corner of the church. The windows and the memorial plaque were unveiled and dedicated on Sunday, 16th October 1921.

The brass plaque contains the following inscription.

1914 – 1918 TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF OUR BROTHERS IN THIS CONGREGATION WHO DIED IN THE GREAT WAR.

The three panel window in the west gable of the church was installed by the congregation as a memorial to all those members and adherents who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War – 1914 – 1918.
The left hand window has as its theme the “Call to Service” and incorporates into its design the text from Matthew 4 v 19 and 20: “Follow Me – and they straightway left their nets and followed Him.”
The centre window has as its theme “The Answer to the Call” and incorporates the text from John 15 v 13. “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
The right hand window has as its theme “The Final Triumph” and includes in it the text from St. Luke, 24 v 36: “Peace be with you” and from Revelation 2 v 10: “Be thou faithful unto Death and I will give thee a crown of Life.”

On Sunday 12th October 1947 a brass plaque containing the names of those members of the congregation and adherents who died or were killed on active service in the Second World War was unveiled and dedicated. The plaque bears this inscription.

These Memorial Brasses were given to us for safe keeping by the congregation of St. Michael’s Carntyne at the dissolution of the congregation on 30th May 1965.
