Not listed by UKNIWM.
This memorial is in the control tower at Dumfries Aerodrome, now the Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum at OS Map Ref NX 999 786.
A complex exhibit and I am afraid my photos scarcely do it justice, you need to see it in the flesh.
The memorial is to the crew of Wellington Aircraft HE 746 which crashed near Dumfries Aerodrome on 4th June 1943. The crew were:
Sgt George William Mullis
Sgt L A Southam (pilot)
Sgt H Parker (air bomber)
Sgt J Kent RCAF (air gunner)
The memorial consists of a Hercules engine and other parts of the Wellington salvaged from the crash site along with a plaque and several explanatory documents.

A nice touch.
I know, having spoken to relatives, just what an affect their losses had throughout their lives. |
