World War 2 + one man from 1956.

I'm awaiting some details on Pte. G. Morrison, Gordon Highlanders who died in 1956 and whose name was obviously added to the Memorial at a later date.

Did the Gordons private die of Second World War wounds? If so that was a long time to suffer.

Edit/Anne

See Bannockburn Cemetery thread: http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=22&mforum=scottishwargraves

*Another of CWGC's little idiosyncrasies - All the burials in this cemetery are listed under 'St. Ninians (Bannockburn) Parish Burial Ground' rather than Bannockburn Cemetery which leads to much confusion over the actual location.

Just came across this man on Dailly Civic Memorial, Ayrshire:

The name is 'similar' to Gowanlock, the man nobody can find details for and he appears not to have any connections that we know of to Dailly, and nothing that we know of for Cambusbarron either.

He was however, at least in the Black Watch, had he first name 'T' and was a corporal!! Laughing

Don't know if this is relevant or helpful, but Alex T Gowanlock was the minister of Allan Park Church in Stirling at the time of the Great War (and for several years before). He also conducted at least one marriage in Cambusbarron Church. (The parents of one of the men I'm researching)

Thanks for that wee bit of info columba.

The problem seems to be that none of us can find a 'match' on any of the usual sites, so it's a mystery as to why that is and why he's listed on Cambusbarron's memorial!

He's not on the Stirling Civic Memorial or any other local Stirling ones as far as I can see.

I wonder if he was discharged through ill-health. One of "my" lads is not on CWGC database, possibly because he was discharged under paragraph 392 XVI King's Regulations - "sick". He later died in ERI of something unpronounceable that leads to kidney failure. Perhaps T Gowanlock was something similar; I looked on Scotland's People but only 2 of that name died between 1914 and 1924 - one in Glasgow aged 50 something and one in Logie, Stirling aged 87.
