(Aberdeen Weekly Journal 21st March 1919)
"At a meeting at Alves in connection with the proposed war memorial it was agreed to erect a stone (the design to be definitely fixed later on) with the names of the fallen inscribed thereon. It was decided to raise the necessary funds by means of a house-to-home collection, and the collectors were appointed."
