I transcribed the East Whitburn memorial. It has relatively few names and a good amount of info, so I thought I'd list the casualties with the CWGC & SNWM.

Interestingly the casualties are listed in order of death, However the last four are alluding me, there are fits, but more than one and none seem to have a connection to the area.
Can anyone make a connection for me?

One in particular puzzles me more than the rest: Lieutenant John B. Mechie, R.A.M.C. He is last listed so may have died well after the war.

Cheers,
Derek.

When was the memorial erected? A man of this unusual name died in Glasgow in 1929.

Good work again Ken,

I had tried me followed by all sorts but forgot the MacDonald splinter name of Michie.

Yes Adam, those 3 looked likely suspects but nothing concrete unfortunately.

Cheers,
Derek.

Thanks for identifiying Currie Jim, I still think my searching skills are deteriorating instead of getting better!

Is this the correct Stein and Mulholland you think?

Derek.

Derek

They are the men who tie up with the service numbers given which is what I checked out. The SNWM info shows them with local links.

SDGW has Mulholland born Cumbernauld, enlisting Armadale and residing Whitburn
Stein is b Bathgate, e Edinburgh, res Whitburn.

Currie is shown b Motherwell, e Dunfermline, res Linlithgow
