Would this memorial in the porch of the present day Old & Abbey church, in Arbroath be for the Great War dead of the congregation for the Abbey Church being its original name before it merged in the recent years with the Old Parish Church ?

A good find there for you ........had not realised there was one in this church .

Yes Pat, it's on the wall directly in front of you when you got in the main door. I suppose it was called just "The Abbey Church", I'll amend it, thanks.

Mural Tablet unveiled in Abbey Church:

In Abbey Parish Church there was unveiled and dedicated on Sunday , a Brass Mural Tablet to the Memory of the Members of the Congregation , 22 in number who fell in the war . The Ceremony took place at the close of the forenoon service and was performed by Rev Professor Kay, DSO , DD , BSc, St Andrews University . There was a large congregation and the service was of a very impressive description.

ABBEY CHURCH, ARBROATH

The Re. Professor Kay, D.S.O., D.D., B.Sc., St AndrewsUniversity, yesterday afternoon unveiled and dedicated a brass tablet in Abbey Parish Church, Arbroath. The tablet has inscribed on it the names of 22 men connected with the congregation who fell in the war.

This article, as in Pat's previous one, refers to 22 men which is correct. The name Foulis is an 'add on' but must have been done prior to the memorial being originally dedicated.
