Regulus1, the photo of the young boy in the kilt and the little girl, are my children. They love going to Ieper. His name is Alasdair and my daughters name is Ellen. I will have to show them the photo.
I was busy playing my bagpipes with the massed Pipe bands at the time. I was also one of the two pipers on the dawn march, the next day. I think I am the first Piper to play 'Flowers o' the Forest' as a solo at the Memorial. The other piper, who you have photographed, is Frank Dubois, of the Passchendael 1917 Pipes and Drums.
What a great weekend that was, I am glad I went.

That's me! Notice how everyone else is keeping a safe distance. Did anyone take a photo of me playing at the memorial that morning? Erwin sprang it on me that morning and I had not played the tune for a good few months! It seemed to go fairly well in the end!
In fact we might be moving to Ieper this year! I have a job to go to, the only hold up is selling our house here, but my wife might let me go on my own at first Shocked

Sadly, I don't have a pic of you at the memorial as I had to bin a lot as the ight was so poor - mind you it was 4 in the morning!

Hope to move over in the next 3 months! If all goes well, so will be more than happy to find graves for you. Also, I was thinking about taking photo's for people of specific area where actions were fought, you know the sort of thing, ''this is the field your granddad advance over as it appears today.'' It is always good to get an idea of the layout of the land.
The Piper is Frank Dubois of the Passchendael Pipe Band. I remember he had a bit of trouble that morning getting his drones to start, it's a real B when that happens!

Today there was a small Remembrance Service for the Scottish and 1 year Scottish Memorial at Frezenberg, Zonnebeke.
