BENJAMIN NICHOLSON is on a family grave in Kirkbean Churchyard, Kirkcudbrightshire.

This is the only time I've seen his name on a War Memorial.
( Just found him on Ayr WM)
BENJAMIN MAITLAND NICHOLSON – age 23 – Private (291798) 7th Battalion, Black Watch.
Born 1894 at Dalbeattie. Son of Benjamin Moody Nicholson (Factor at Cavens Estate, Kirkbean) and his second wife Elizabeth (Hyslop) Nicholson.
Husband of Jean Fairbairn (Carswell) Nicholson of Ayr who he married in 1917 at Ayr.
Died – 14 July 1918 - as a Prisoner of War.
Commonwealth War Grave – Sedan (St. Charles) Communal Cemetery, Ardennes, France.
Ben was educated at Ayr and enlisted in May 1916. He was taken prisoner in March 1918 and died of dystentery in the Kriegslazerette at Asfeld, Sedan, France. _________________ Ken |
