A fourth brother Norman Maitland Cowie was twice wounded including a gassing but apparently survived the war.

A fifth brother, Frank Hamilton Cowie was called up and went to France but following an appeal by his mother to the Lothian and Peebles Military Appeal Tribunal, he was brought back to UK and served the remainder of the war as an instructor.

This is from an article in the August edition of Britain at War magazine where Frank is dubbed the real Private Ryan.

My query is, are any of the Cowie brothers listed on any memorial so that I could post this tale against the right thread? I cannot seem to find them.

I did a lookup for the Cowie's and found that the details are on a public tree. They are the sons of John Maitland Reid Cowie & Elsie Williamson.
I noted that Lindsay Steven Cowie died on his 25th birthday..... sadly the person has not been into the site lately.
