I have updated the info for Kincardine O'Neil with little trouble but can't find the above man. The picture of the memorial is hard to read and I think it says Mer Navy. Can anyone out there help with info. |

It does indeed look like Mer Navy.
There's a Daniel Walter Cruickshanks, Second Engineering Officer, Merchant Navy, Died 21st Sept 1941. Tower Hill Memorial, London, Plot Panel 13.
Same chap? |

It does read Mer. Navy.
The fact that he is listed on a war memorial does not mean he is entitled to be commemorated by CWGC.
It might well be that he does not qualify for war dead status, and so is not a non comm.
This might be him on SNWM
Surname CRUICKSHANK
Firstname Walter
Service number
Date of death 02/06/1941
Decoration
Place of birth Peterhead
Other S.S. "STRATHNAVER".
SNWM roll MERCHANT NAVY & FISHING FLEETS (Part 2)
Rank 2nd Baker

Thanks for info. I'm trying to get an update to Torphins and Kincardine O'Neil info and for me WWII is out of my comfort zone.

Anne
The Return details shows his last abode in Pontypridd, Wales, although born Peterhead. Sounds a ltttle odd but it could be him. Certainly connected to the NE. Ironically for a baker, he died of heat exhaustion so certainly NOT a Non Comm. _________________ Jim
