Sorry, been away for a few days and only just got back. It seems to me that it would be in an RAF base (or former base). It's not in the aviation museum at Dumfries, nothing at the old Baldoon airfield so my best guess would be that it is (or was) at West Freugh. I have not checked around that area, so fingers crossed they know where it is. Otherwise the guys at Dumfries aviation museum might know of it.

Easy to miss if you are looking for it, the building is down an alley.

Still trying to gain access to photograph the memorial.

Thanks must go to a lot of people to finding this memorial and getting it onto the project. David Devereaux of the Stewartry museum in drawing it to our attention, Ken Morrison for his dogged determination to track it down, the chairman of the club Douglas Ball for his permission to take the photos and others I am sure.

Present at the unveiling were an Air Vice Marshall (name unknown), Wg Cdr Ackerman and the minister Mr Coburn.

These photos from yesterday - note the 2 added names and as Ken pointed out to me, the obvious omission of Sqn Ldr Patrick Gifford.

This memorial commemorates men and women who gave their lives...

I can find no reference on CWGC or SNWM to a WW2 WAAF or WWI WRAF
named J. R. RICHARDSON.

Any suggestions.

Tony

Possibly a case of 'Richardson' being her maiden name?

Maybe her parents/family submitted her details and rather than giving her married name, kept her as Richardson?

That's probably Jessie Richardson from the Lochmaben war memorial but I'm not sure that puts us a lot closer.

That rings a bell. I'm sure I remember Jim Grant dealing with a possible "non-comm" for this lady but I think it stalled due to the lack of access to service file.
I've e-mailed Jim and asked him to post here.

Ken is correct on this.

I know Jessie Richardson died of Pulmonary Tuberculsosis and is buried at Lochmaben.

To progress this any further would require the help of her living NOK in order to ascertain that she was discharged due to TB contracted in service. There is a cost involved if they wanted to pursue it.

If someone local can check, it might be her family are still linked to 4 Glebe Terrace, Lochmaben.
