I am posting this as the Lunan Parish Memorial. Yes, it has the 'Old Boys' of Lunan School on the front but the Men of Lunan on the rear.
I personally don't know of any other parish memorial but I am getting slightly out of my area and I'd love someone to come in and 'correct me'. |

I believe this to be UKNIWM 5693 and therefore the parish (i.e. civic) memorial. My explanation for the inscription referring to the school is that (possibly) there was only ever one school for the parish and perhaps the initiative for the memorial came from someone connected to the school.

I have now moved this to the civic section and edited the title. There is still a link to it in the school section.
Thanks

Some interesting detail about the 1914-19 names can be found here:
http://www.ancestor.abel.co.uk/Angus/Lunan.html
The 1919 date is sadly apt, with the first name on the list dying in late February 1919.
The sculptors (Gibb Brothers of Aberdeen) are also credited with the memorials at Strachan and Parish of Nigg. |

MEMBER OF WELL-KNOWN ANGUS FAMILY
Lt.-Col. Hew Blair Imrie Killed In Action
Mrs Hew Blair Imrie, Fawsyde House, Kinneff, has received word that her husband, Lieut.-Colonel Hew Angus Christopher Blair Imrie, M.C., Black Watch, attached Gordon Highlanders, has been killed in action in Normandy.
Lieut.-Colonel Blair Imrie was the younger son of the late Lieut.-Colonel Hew Blair Imrie, C.M.G., O.B. E., and Mrs Blair Imrie, of Lunan, near Montrose.
He was 29, and five years ago married Miss Margaret Arbuthnott, cousin of Viscount Arbuthnott. There is a daughter born in 1940.
Prior to the war Lieut. Colonel Blair Imrie was at Valley Works, Brechin. He had been a Territorial since 1933, being captain in command of the Brechin company of the Black Watch when war broke out. He was educated at Stowe and Edinburgh Academy. He was wounded at Alamein. His chief interests were shooting and angling.
