Aberfeldy War Memorial James Fulton

Pte S/7393 James Fulton 1st Black Watch KIA 19/11/1917 (Tyne Cot Memorial)
Barber to trade employed by A A MacGregor Aberfeldy

Have a wedding cert 19/5/1911 for a James Fulton (27) (hairdressers assistant) who marries Elizabeth MacDonald. (29) at 72 St John Street Perth. Both reside Tayside Cottage Aberfeldy
James's mother is given as Jane Fulton. There is a Jane Fulton who died 17/1/1914 at 265 High St Perth (Widow of John Robert Fulton House Painter)?

SDGW gives James's birth place as Perth, but the 1911 census gives (James (hairdresser) married to Elizabeth, as Annan Dumfries.

I cannot find a birth certificate, for a Fulton born in 1884 (or there-abouts) in Dumfries, or Perth can you?

On the 1911 marriage certificate, the mother Jane Fulton is marked as deceased, so is not the 1914 death.

No obvious sign of him in the 1901 census. There is a probable sighting of him in the 1891 census in Dryfesdale (Lockerbie) staying with a widowed aunt and her daughter. His birthplace is given as Annan.

There is an 1884 birth for James Fulton Latimer in Annan. The parents are given as Thomas Latimer (ploughman) and Jane Latimer (ms. Fulton, m 1883 [changed from 1884] Annan). The 1883 marriage certificate is there to be found too. Jane Latimer (ms. Fulton) died in 1888 in Annan (two days after the death of a 2 year old son; deaths appear to be unrelated). Thomas re-married and died in 1935.

Of course, I should have spotted that.

Many thanks ADP, you may be on to something there, and I will check it out.

I note it was only his mother's name on the wedding cert. It's also unusual for SDGW to get the birth location wrong?

I realise how expensive SP can be, and thanks very much to anyone who may have used any credits. I can only say I am happy to return the favour, should anyone require a look up.

Cheers Mike
