A memorial based upon that of the one at Kirriemuir is proposed to be created at Polygon wood, to remember the fallen of the Black Watch from the Great War.

Kirriemuir is a very striking memorial but it is a design used by several war memorials across Scotland. Of the top of my head I know that same figure is in Lochinver, Ardgay and Lybster.

Out of Perthshire, Fife and Angus they could surely find another statue to use which is more original. How about the mourning figure at Carnoustie, he's a cracker. Or the marching figure in Stanley.

Birnie Rhind's thoughtful Highlander in Kelty could have a Tam o'Shanter instead of a helmet (see also Prestonpans)

Well they are hoping to raise money for the new memorial through wrist band sales.
