Dalwhinnie - Badenoch & Strathspey
UKNIWM Ref no. 5927
The Dalwhinnie war memorial takes the form of a short granite obelilsk set on top of a tall rustic pedestal which in turn stands on three low rustic steps. The commemoration and names of the dead are listed on a polished granite tablet set into the face of the pedestal.
The monument stands on the edge of the village.
Apologies for the quality of the photographs which were taken some years ago on an old camera. The commemorative tablet was badly weathered and the names were becoming illegible. I don't know if any restoration work has been carried out since then?
The commemoration reads:

I think this memorial has now been moved into the village. You used to be able to see it from the A9 but you can't see it now.

I can confirm that the memorial is now in the Village, at the Station Road End, and has been restored.
It was originally opposite the Loch Ericht hotel at the south end of the village because the mother of one of the casualties owned the hotel.
There are now photographs on the WMR report. |

Thanks for the confirmation about the location and the update about the IWM WMR.
Here is the link to the WMR page which shows the location and the photographs.
