Here is a photo of the Longmanhill War Memorial. Possible clearer ones could be taken if anyone is in that neck of the woods;

Some further info;

Banffshire Maritime & Heritage Association Newsletter: September 2009

REMEMBRANCE

On the 11th November, 2008, the 90th Anniversary of the end of WW1 was commemorated at both Banff and Maduff War Memorials. However, no commemoration could be held at the Longmanhill War Memorial because it isn't there! The hall on which the memorial stood was sold by Stewart and Watson, and the memorial was taken down. We believe the memorial is held in storeage somewhere, however we are concerned that we have seen no indication that it will be re-erected.

6th November 2010 - Longmanhill War Memorial re-sited.
We have in our 2009 and 2010 newsletters mentioned that the Longman Hill War Memorial which formerly stood on the north gable wall of the village hall needed re-erected. Today we happy to say see have seen the memorial in its new location, and it looks great.

The inscription reads:

TO THE GLORY OF GOD

AND IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE

OF THE MEN FROM THIS DISTRICT

WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES

IN THE WAR 1939 - 1945.

W.O. WILLIAM McRAE

F/SGT ALEXANDER McIVOR

L.A.C. JAMES D. McROBERT

L/CPL LEWIS THAIN

PTE JOHN WILSON

PTE GORDON JOSS

THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.

The UKNIWM refers to 6 casualties from the Great War and there are only 1939-45 names on this memorial...strange!

The new location is part of a field at Fairburn Farm, Longmanhill, adjacent to the A98 Macduff-Fraserburgh road.
