Hi

sorry I have been pretty invisible of late. My grand-daughter is doing fine now so will be able to spend more time on the projects in the coming weeks. I did a quick inventory of the programs I currently use to help with posting in case it is of any use to anyone.

Photobucket - overall I think this is still the best for photos but greatly miss the filename which is no longer shown. Anyone anything better?

To reduce the images to posting size (I use 1024 X 768) I use the free program TSO Image Resizer.

I don't bother about watermarking myself, but the best program I have found is the free TSR Watermark Image. Gives you lots of options about size, orientation, colour, font and transparency. If you prefer something discrete you can do something like the following (copyright is at bottom left) but you can be bigger and bolder if you like.

I am sure we have all had to put up with a distorted photo (keystoning) by having to shoot at a strange angle to avoid reflections or just because we cannot get there. There is an excellent free program called Shift/N which will remove the keystone and make the lines parallel again. Tip - if your distortion is horizontal, rotate the image 90 degrees, fix it and then rotate back again. Here is a before and after.

Finally for getting OS Map references I used to use multimap (now google maps) but this no longer shows the OS Map Ref so I have resorted to using streetmap which will both find the map for a given map reference and help you identify the map ref for the location you are looking at although it is rather difficult to use. Any alternative suggestions?

\Paul
