I am led to believe that there is a Memorial to Glasgow born Lt General Sir John Moore died of wounds at the Battle of Corunna in George Square in Glasgow . Is that so or have I again missed the memorial listed here on this index ??

The statue is located on the South Side of George Square facing down South Hanover Street. I don't recall seeing it here, but I stand to be corrected!

Have a look here: http://www.scottish-places.info/features/moregpix1320.html

Thanks Anne for that bit and yes I should have seen his statue during my days in the 1970s when I worked in Pitt St Glasgow .

It is there and I have photographs of it. They aren't very good, the light was poor on the day I was there, but it should be on the forum.

I can't think why I haven't posted them here since he was killed in action at Corunna.

I will see about getting a thread started.

For those unfamiliar with who Sir John Moore was, we recently had a post on the SMRG Blog about him:

http://scottishmilitary.blogspot.com/2011/01/whos-who-in-scottish-military-history_16.html

His statue in Glasgow is also one of the photographs I used in the video "The Scottish Soldier in Bronze and Stone"

Cheers
