Invergowrie was formerly incorporated in the City of Dundee but now lies in the Perth & Kinross Council area so I'll post here.

Cpl Robert A Burns who died in the Falklands conflict served with 22 SAS Regt. He is mentioned on the Palace Barracks Memorial http://www.palacebarracksmemorialgarden.org/Falkland%20Islands.htm#22%20Special%20Air%20Service but there are no further details listed.

The Invergowrie memorial stood as part of the gateway at the village park. It became vandalised and desecrated. It was decided to move the celtic cross to the grounds of the local Presbyterian Church.

Disgusting springs to mind when I read of this.

Invergowrie's war memorial cross received a grant of £250 in 1999 towards community supported relocation (WM2562).

All the names on the Invergowrie Memorial are listed on the Longforgan Memorial except Richard Sinclair from WW2.
In the absence of an unveiling report from WW1 I am inclined to the view that the Memorial at Longforgan covered both, being in the Parish of Longforgan.
It seems likely that all the WW2 names were added to the Longforgan Memorial soon after the War and that subsequently the Memorial Park at Invergowrie was created and the Invergowrie men for both wars commemorated in the archway.
Following the vandalism the new Memorial was created.
There are a few minor differences between the names on each Memorial-either indicating an update or carelessness!

Happy to be corrected on all fronts!

Quite correct Longforgan and Invergowrie remembered their Great War dead on a single memorial;

The parish of Longforgan, embracing the villages of Longforgan and Invergowrie, turned out in their hundreds on Saturday last to participate in the ceremony of unveiling the war memorial erected to the memory of those sons who had made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War.

I also found online an inventory of papers relating to Major-General D. N. Wimberley, a part of which reads;

156. Address on occasion of opening of Invergowrie Memorial Park 2 June 1951.

If I can dig out this article from the papers it may go some way to clarifying the situation.
