The Ullapool war memorial is a red sandstone shrine with white marble tablets bearing the commemoration and names of the dead set into the face. A female figure carved in white marble and bearing a wreath is set on top of the pedestal.
The monument stands in a small enclosed garden above the main road at the edge of the village.

The Rev. R A C MacMillan MA DPhil (Glasgow University) was the Minister of St John's Presbyterian Church, Kensington, London from 1913 to 1917
He served as Chaplain to the 2nd Camerons during 1915 and 1916 before taking on a combat role as a 2nd Lt with the Seaforths in 1916.
He fell in action at Fampous, near Arras and is listed in a book of remembrance now in Kensington United Reformed Church.
