|
Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre , Montrose Angus has the old 1913 Royal Flying Corps airfield Station Headquarters building (grade 2 listed )
and in front of this building are a set of Propeller blades (damaged /crashed) removed from a crash site at one of the Angus Glens
and attached this is a plaque recording the words:
" IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO NEVER RETURNED HOME "
This I would expect would relate to the casualties of the Great War who were casualties in training at RFC Montrose , RAF Montrose or who were casualties of former squadrons from Montrose who were serving overseas and casualties of RAF Montrose at home in training or on overseas duties of war in 1939 -1945 and who never returned home
