Came across this website tonight

Although it mainly records US markers it does have entries for other countries.

Interestingly I came across some Scottish 'markers' in the database. Here's a couple I found but there are more.

Although not a war memorial this memorial is of interest. It is the American memorial to the victims of Pan-Am 103 and the people of Lockerbie who died on 21st December 1988. It takes the shape of a Scottish cairn made from 270 stones brought from Scotland

There were only three entries for the UK and none for Scotland so I submitted three entries last night (so far one has been put online, see here). One from the North of Scotland, one from the South-West, one from Aberdeen and I will add at least one for Edinburgh too. That way it gives a good geographical spread for Scotland.

If anyone has images of memorials or monuments in Scotland that have connections to the USA or Canada it may be worth adding them to the database to raise their profile over there. I added one from Portpatrick which commemorates a USAAF C-47 crash. Other USAAF or USAF crash markers may be of interest too.

Anything about the Lockerbie crash or Scots who left for the Americas and became famous over there like John Paul Jones would probably be worth adding.

It is a bit of a slog adding an entry but you can add things like a URL. I added two URLs to the Portpatrick entry which were for the two entries on this forum relating to the air-crash so anyone looking at the entry on the HMDB database will hopefully pay our humble forum a visit too.

I've submitted one of a plaque marking the birthplace of David Dunbar Buick, the car pioneer, still pending though.
