Not convinced this is the right place, mods please move it if you think it would be better elsewhere.

Paul
It is not a possible change. It was certainly Caroline C.C. Miller at the unveiling in 1921 much to the dismay of her mother and sister who attended by invitation and lodged complaint to the T.F.N.S. The C.C. error remains although this might have made the change more difficult. You can clearly see the T has been an R, Caroline has become Catherine. As you say, it looks very well done.
A case for Catherine as an in service non comm ( war dead ) will be with MOD very soon. She contracted Malaria working with Dr Elsie Inglis in Serbia in 1917. _________________ Jim

Hi.. Catherine was my Grandmother's sister. She is also commemorated on the Dunfermline war memorial. Catherine was named after her Grandmother who was Catherine Cook. I suspect the double C. C. is wrong, part of the sculptors error. She joined the Territorial Nurses towards end of war after her work with Elsie Inglis and her nurses so possibly their records not the most accurate and hence error. I have seen her listed as being born in Glasgow and living in Aberdeen on some WW1 sites but pretty sure born in Dunfermline. Possibly nursed in Glasgow and may have enlisted there.
We (family) have her war medals and would have to check but pretty sure the invites to St. Giles/unveiling of war memorial. We have some newspaper cuttings. She had served in Serbia with Elsie Inglis. She was possibly one of team who supported Serbian troops in Russia.
I notice mention of getting her recognised by MOD we had always assumed this was the case with her recognition on the main war memorial and her medals.
If we can help in this please let me know.

Graham
She was not commemorated by CWGC. I found the omission, gathered evidence and forwarded a case for her to MOD / CWGC and it was accepted. I note you found that detail in the non comms section.
If you mail me from the address in my signature I can provide more details. _________________ Jim
