Jim
If this is on the former Birse Kirk would that make it a church memorial? There is another memorial for Birse at the roadside which can be seen here:

Thanks

You can see this church on Google Maps Street View
There seems to be something on the wall of the church which you can see behind the large headstone, but the image on GMSV is too grainy to make out whether it is a granite plaque with names or a notice board.

None of the images are clear enough to tell. It may be that the names here and the other you mention have the same details + WW2. This would probably be the civic / parish memorial it that is the case. Acording to Jim McG the other one by the roadside is dedicated to ' the men of Birse' _________________ Jim

It looks like it is a war memorial on the wall of the church. I have e-mailed the Birse Trust for detail. |

Received the following reply in response to my query;
Hi Mark,
The plaque at Birse Kirk is on the outside wall - there is nothing inside the kirk. We gather every November for a Remembrance Service under the plaque which is inscribed per the attachement to this e-mail. You are more than welcome to photograph it at any time. I hope this is of assistance to you.
Best wishes,
Rick Paul
