William Edwin Biggs b. 1891 & John Austin Biggs b. 1898 sons of Mary & Donald were both killed on the same day at Galipolli, Turkey in WW1 (1915). William is buried there at Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery & John`s is just a memorial, his body was never found, & it is at Helles Memorial.
I looked details on Soldiers Died but can't find them on a memorial.

Anne,

As far as I remember there are no names on the Falkirk memorial. I'm sure Anne Anderson made enquiries regarding some form of RoH without success.

Hi Mark
Thanks for getting back. They are a bit outside my usual research area.

Hi Anne/Mark,

There doesn't seem to be a Falkirk Roll of Honour - I've searched high and low.

There are various 'district' ones, e.g. Denny & Dunipace & Grangemouth but not a collective one. This may be due to there being so many different districts in and around Falkirk - who knows? Confused

I collated names a couple of years ago for Camelon men (yet another Falkirk district) for a proposed new memorial. I don't know what happened about that either - maybe the recession put paid to plans.

I haven't found any 'Biggs' on any family stones in any of the Falkirk 'district' Cemeteries.

Anne

P.S. I've a feeling this might instigate yet another wee project for me!! Wink

Hi Anne
Thanks for getting back. I am looking forward to better days to start my photo taking.
Mind you I went to Portsoy the other day to find out where Portsoy Salmon Bothy is as I'm going a talk on 1st May at 2.00pm.
So watch out about researching stuff you don't know where it may take you to.
Anne
ps It was snowing first thing in the morning

Thanks for the warning Anne - I know only too well where searching or researching can lead ....... I've been to places I never knew existed!

Good luck with your talk - I hope everything goes well and it doesn't snow, well, too deeply!! Rolling Eyes

Anne.

P.S. I'll add the Biggs brothers to my wee 'mystery file' and see if I can find anything out about them.
