I have now been pointed towards another spelling of my grandfather,John Daly's name.(See above)The spelling accompaning his number as seen above is "Daily."A respondant thinks this is my grandfather,He is in the book, Coatbridge Men of The Great War...with a different regimental number.He lived at East Stewart Street,Coatdyke,next door to his in-laws the Bennett family.
If this turns out to be the correct person,his name is not on the War Memorial at Coatbridge Crying or Very sad

where he lived and worked for some time before enlisting.Seemingly he enlisted in Hamilton.Why would that be if he was in an Armagh Regiment???....(he was brought up in Armagh). Question

Thank you for this address for the Royal Irish Fusiliers Museum.I will write to her next week and see if she can trace my grandfathers details and fill in some information on his regiments movements in WW1.

Hi, I am not sure whether you ever found the information you were looking for,

using the service number 24896,

I have located a soldier,

John Daily Private 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusilier,
Killed in action France, July 18, 1918,
Born, Tartlachan, Co Tyrone.
Irish War Memorial Records, Volume II Page 253.

I have an extensive database of the Irish killed at Gallipoli/Dardanelles and no John daly (Daily) is listed.

If I can be any further assistance please ask.
