I believe that some victims from HMS Dasher are buried at Ardrossan and some at Greenock. I have a memorial scroll to a Naval Airman who was KIA on the Dasher, if anyone would like to see a picture of the scroll please contact me

This topic doesn't relate to a civic memorial in Ayrshire so I've moved it to the General section.

HMS Dasher Memorial, Ardrossan, Ayrshire

This boat shaped flowerbed on the seafront at Ardrossan commemorates the 379 men who lost their lives on the 23rd of March 1943 when the light escort carrier HMS Dasher blew up and sank south of the wee Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde. Due to the war there was much secrecy about the incident and even today the exact cause of the explosion is not fully understood. The wreck still lies in 131m of water where it sank and is now considered a war grave.

Confidential documents relating to the sinking of an aircraft carrier in the Firth of Clyde are to be made public by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

HMS Dasher sank off the coast of Ardrossan on 27 March 1943 with the loss of 379 of her 528 crew.

Campaigners attempting to discover why the ship sank have been trying to get the release of Royal Navy casualty packs relating to HMS Dasher.

The MoD confirmed these would soon be transferred to the National Archives.
