St Silas was founded in 1864 as an independent Anglican congregation. The church was planted in the rapidly developing West End of Glasgow by members of St Jude's English Episcopal Church in St Vincent St. Since 1843 these congregations had operated independently of the Scottish Episcopal Church. www.stsilas.org.uk

There is one war memorial located in the main body of the church.

It is inscribed as follows:

Just a couple at random:
JOHN HENRY MAGOVENY - The British Medical Jounal of June 28 1919 has an obituary:
Captain John Henry Magoveny RAMC (SR) was reported as having died on service. He was educated at Glasgow University where he graduated MB and ChB in 1913. After filling the post of house-surgeon at the Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow and house-physician of the Royal Infirmary, Bradford, he took a commission as Lieutenant in the Special Reserve of the RAMC on September 23 1915 and was promoted to Captain on April 1 1915.

He is listed on the Glasgow University Roll of Honour as Captain, RAMC - 2 Cameron Highlanders.
27 Division set up their HQ in Tiflis (Tblisi, Georgia) in January 1919 and he is buried in the British Cemetery there.

I think that it's an indication of how bad things were in 1940 that 826 Squadron, Royal Fleet Air Arm were flying a bi-plane, the Fairley Albacore, against airfields in Holland.

Captain Fawcett of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry is also commemorated on the Royal Technical College War Memorial, now part of Strathclyde University.

Lt McKirdy (or Scott McKirdy) and Captain Fawcett are also commemorated on a large family tomb in Lesmahagow (Abbey Green) Cemetery, see (page 2) here:
