"Mrs McLean, 40 Merchant Street, Peterhead, has received a letter from Captain McDonald, of the 5th Battalion Gordon Highlanders, stating that her son, Private Alexander McLean, had been killed in action in France. He was 32 years of age, and was formerly a labourer at the Harbour of Refuge Works, Peterhead."
